Reading receives flagship Nationwide branch

Nationwide Building Society has today announced the opening of its newly-situated flagship branch.

Located at 51 Broad Street, the branch opens on Monday 2 July, with an official opening taking place on Saturday 14 July. The Society has relocated customers and staff from the old Broad Street and Station Road branches.

The new branch location is larger, with an informal layout that allows members to do their banking in a way that suits them best – whether it’s using the open plan seating area or having a quiet chat in one of the private pods. It also features a community area for members to enjoy, with news about volunteering, a noticeboard for messages and colouring-in to entertain young children.

Members will also have access to the latest technology, including free wi-fi, access to Nationwide’s Internet Bank via iPads, and Nationwide Now technology1, the Society’s high-definition video link providing access to specialist advisers.

Mandy Beech, Branch Director at Nationwide Building Society, said, “We’ve been rolling out our 4C design into a number of new branches and refurbishments, having listened to the feedback from our customers. I’m pleased that here in Reading, we’ve been able to secure a larger premises on Broad Street, with enhanced benefits for customers. We hope that by adding facilities like the community area, customers will come in to do their banking and use the space we’ve provided here for the community to use.

“We also understand that some of our members like interacting face-to-face with our people, that’s why we’re rolling out this new design, with larger areas for open plan meetings, private pods for those who prefer more privacy, and technology such as tablets for a greater degree of self-service.”

Nationwide Broad Street branch

The branch, at 51 Broad Street, contains all the latest innovations Nationwide offers to customers including Nationwide NOW, together with the personal service so many value in an increasingly digital age. The branch will also benefit from Nationwide Radio, a station specifically set up for Society’s branch network having received positive feedback from members.

Notes to editors

1 Nationwide NOW is the Society’s pioneering service which gives customers access to a range of Nationwide financial consultants via a high definition video link. For more information visit: nationwide.co.uk/nationwide-now.

4C Experience explained

We love our members to feel at home in branch. We want them to be able to do what they came in for, but feel like they can stay a little longer if they choose. So we’ve created an experience that we call 4C, with four areas, each with a different name and purpose:

Convenience

For members who might be in a rush. This area lets you do things quickly and easily, like using the cash machine or speaking to one of our team at the counters.

Conversation

This is where we’re on hand if you need a little guidance, help with your digital banking or you just fancy a chat.

Consultation

Speak to one of our experts in a little more privacy. Choose an open plan meeting room or a private pod. It’s up to you.

Community

Have a coffee and read a book while your little ones do some colouring in. Or take a look at our history and what we’ve been up to in your local community. This space is all about you.
