Nationwide Building Society has announced two brand new Community Pop-ups, one in Billingshurst Community Centre (West Sussex) and another in Bacup Library (Lancashire), bringing support to areas without a Nationwide branch. The Pop-up will allow local customers to book appointments, get help and support on products and services and attend educational talks on a variety of popular subjects, such as fraud and how to use our digital services. Customers who aren’t currently members of the Society are also very welcome to come and meet Nationwide.

Mandy Beech, Member Experience Director at Nationwide Building Society, said: “We understand the importance our members place on being able to come into a branch environment to talk to us about a variety of financial matters, big and small. That’s why we have invested heavily in our branches across the country and we are committed to maintaining and reviewing our branch network to make sure it best fits the majority of our member’s needs. We are really excited that, to complement our existing network of branches, we are opening these two Community Pop-ups to help provide even more ways for members, who might be a little further away from a formal branch, to come and spend time with us.

“The plan is to have the Pop-ups open for six months, with regular reviews to make sure they are working for local members. In fact, we have hosted informal pop-up spaces before, such as in Corsham, Wiltshire, in 2017 and had a really positive response.”

The new Community Pop-ups are part of the Society’s investment of more than £150 million in refurbishing its network. Nationwide recently opened two new branches in Lichfield and Meadowhall, in addition to rolling out its 4C design across its network. This design offers members improved conversational areas, access to the latest technology, including free Wi-Fi, access to Nationwide’s Internet Bank via iPads, and Nationwide Now, the Society’s high-definition video link providing access to specialist advisers. This helps Nationwide deliver its leading customer service in branch, by combining technology with the human touch.
