Nationwide Building Society has today announced the opening of a new larger flagship branch in Bath. The branch opens on 26 March, and the Society is relocating customers and staff from the Old Bond and Bath Street branches.
The brand new premises will be located on Union Street, with an official opening taking place on Saturday 7 April.
The new larger branch will be more spacious, and the informal layout will allow members to do their banking in a way that suits them best – whether it’s using the open plan seating area or a quiet chat in one of the private pods. It will also feature a community area for members to enjoy, with news about volunteering, a noticeboard for messages and colouring-in to entertain young children.
Members will also have access to the latest technology, including free wi-fi, access to Nationwide’s Internet Bank via iPads, and Nationwide Now technology1, the Society’s high-definition video link providing access to specialist advisers.
Mandy Beech, Branch Director at Nationwide Building Society, said, “We are very pleased to be opening a new branch in Bath, with enhanced benefits for our customers. The branch features Nationwide’s brand new 4C design concept; convenience, conversation, consultation, and community, as we recognise the changing needs of customers and the ways in which we can help them in today’s diverse lifestyles. Our customers will also see the friendly faces they know and recognise in the branch, as our staff relocate to Union Street too.
“We continue to invest in our network, to ensure each branch we have across the country can help, support and advise the millions of members who choose to visit us every day. Our branches and the people within them remain core to the service we provide. We understand that some of our members like interacting face-to-face with our people, that’s why we’re rolling out new formats, with larger areas for open plan meetings, private pods for those who prefer more privacy, and technology such as tablets for a greater degree of self-service.”

The Nationwide Bath team raise money for local charities in and around the area. Last year the branch helped with sessions at Calder House School on teaching financial education, and currently raise money for Julian’s House, a charity offering projects and services to anyone facing homelessness. The team are also CPR trained, and the larger branch will provide the space to hold CPR training sessions to local community groups.

4C Experience explained
We love our members to feel at home in branch. We want them to be able to do what they came in for, but feel like they can stay a little longer if they choose. So we’ve created an experience that we call 4C, with four areas, each with a different name and purpose:
Convenience
For members who might be in a rush. This area lets you do things quickly and easily, like using the cash machine or speaking to one of our team at the counters.
Conversation
This is where we’re on hand if you need a little guidance, help with your digital banking or you just fancy a chat.
Consultation
Speak to one of our experts in a little more privacy. Choose an open plan meeting room or a private pod. It’s up to you.
Community
Have a coffee and read a book while your little ones do some colouring in. Or take a look at our history and what we’ve been up to in your local community. This space is all about you.
